In focus: Salesforce for IoT in Renewable Energy Management

United Nation’s International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has stated that 90% of the world’s electricity can and should come from renewable energy sources by 2050 for a a liveable planet meant for all of us. To realise this goal, research institutions, organizations, enterprises in the clean energy space, and individuals such as yourself are investing and focusing on alternative sources of energy for a safer future.

  • Linked with Net Zero Cloud to track emissions reductions, energy efficiency metrics, and sustainability KPIs.
  • Leveraged with Service Cloud + Field Service to trigger proactive maintenance workflows when IoT alerts (like overheating, downtime, or output drops) are detected.
  • Enhanced by Einstein AI to predict energy demand, optimize asset performance, and improve grid balancing.

By serving as the customer engagement and workflow layer on top of IoT telemetry platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, or device management solutions), Salesforce helps renewable energy firms transform raw IoT data into actionable insights—improving reliability, efficiency, and sustainability outcomes.

01- Schneider Electric – IoT-Driven Energy Management 

Schneider Electric uses Salesforce to connect millions of IoT-enabled devices, powering its “Life Is On” vision for energy efficiency. The platform enables real-time monitoring through Service Cloud and offers integrated CRM functionality to enhance customer service and predictive maintenance. 02- Bolt Data – Wind Turbine IoT Management 

Through its Bolt Data Connect integration, Salesforce supports wind turbine monitoring: it helps detect performance anomalies, trigger maintenance cases preemptively, and minimize downtime, highlighting how renewable energy assets can be managed efficiently with Salesforce IoT integration. 03- AT&T + Salesforce – Emissions Monitoring via IoT + Net Zero Cloud 

AT&T partners with Salesforce to harness IoT data from heavy machinery (e.g., fuel consumption, engine hours) on Net Zero Cloud. This enables real-time emissions tracking and sustainability management—useful for infrastructure-heavy industries including renewable energy operations. 

 So, Salesforce has already proven its value in renewable energy organizations, whether it’s managing solar installations, enabling predictive maintenance via IoT, or powering zero-carbon customer experiences. The platform’s flexibility, combined with AI and analytics, lets renewable energy players deliver efficiency, operational resilience, and sustainability at scale. We are only going to see more of Salesforce anchored digital transformation in the clean energy landscape as the world embraces goals for a sustainable future.
